Kopernicus knows exactly where to find General Iris every morning. It is the Helmet Gallery where General Iris, along with the help of her Corgi Guards and Mrs. Brown, picks out in her opinion - the most fantastic helmet to wear for the day.
As she comes out fully adorned, Kopernicus is ready for her. He is already in the classic sheep confrontation stance. Lots of other royal sheep living at Baapolis have gathered here, emotionally tense, not sure what’s going to happen next.
Wisteria, an elderly sheep, who is General Iris‘s mother, is in disbelief that the challenger is actually Kopernicus. In her watching of his growth over the moons, she has decided before today that Kopernicus would never challenge, he would just always hide, escape, or fall asleep.
Kusco, a sheep of similar age to Kopernicus, who is General Iris’ daughter, shakes her hooves in anxiety. She worries if her mother can handle this. In her subconscious, of course, her mother can handle everything. But there is a tingle, a patting from the morning breeze, that suggests mayhaps one day she has to face such confrontation.
Isolde, Kopernicus’ mother, lays comfortably amongst the crowd, tilting her head in proudness. She murmurs with joyful muse, “That’s my boy.”
Isolde has never for one second doubted her son’s ability to ram, to be a robust sheep, even a leader, although her unshaken belief to others is a bit delusional.
Another royal sheep comments that Kopernicus is not wearing any sort of horn helmets. No protection!
He never does. He hates how they fit on his head. He’d rather use the raw power of his skull.
Raw skull power is silly, taking risks for no good reason - Wisteria voices, “This is really not worth damaging one’s skull for.” It’s not a worthwhile confrontation. What is the conflict anyway? Just marrying some ewes? Something sheep do every season?
Iris has lifted up her hooves, coming onto her bipedal stance to check in reality if Kopernicus is really meaning his confrontation. And as she scans his body, Kopernicus is in a full forward frontal thrusting momentum. He is for real.
General Iris plants down her front hooves, manipulates her body into a forward thrusting position, kicks her hind hooves up into the air.
And off she goes!
Kopernicus gathers more potential energy through dusting the carpet with all his fours - backing up, crouching his back.
Both - without hesitation - rush ahead! Potential energy morphs into unstoppable kinetic energy! OH, WOO, GEE, This is going to hurt! The crowd feels the pain in their hearts.
Our last chapter is next week! Don’t miss our finale of VOLUME ONE. And that will conclude our first season. Volume 2 is scheduled to release some time in the Autumn of 2025.
